Overcoming Perfectionism
Yesterday, I discussed how perfectionism and overthinking can cage our ideas and keep them locked away for the “perfect time.” Today, I want to discuss how to break free from this mind cage.
The ideas I’m about to share are insights I discovered while searching for solutions for myself. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, this 365-day writing challenge is both a journey of rejuvenation and a form of self-therapy for me. I’m a work in progress and excited to share what I’ve learned with you. Hopefully, it helps us both. So, let’s get to it.
One of the simplest solutions I found is to begin with what you have and where you are. The key is to create a version 1.0 and improve as you go. Just as I wrote some time ago, progress is better than perfection.

Another solution would be to set smaller, actionable goals. Big projects can feel overwhelming, so it will be wise to break them down into smaller, manageable tasks. Allow yourself to make mistakes and learn from them. Perfectionists often fear failure, but growth comes from experimenting. Remind yourself that imperfect action is better than perfect inaction.
Instead of focusing solely on external validation (likes, comments, or shares), find joy in the creative process itself. It’s about the journey, not just the destination. If you are too focused on the destination, you may miss the experience the journey is meant to equip you with.
Make sure you are adding a new layer of progress to yourself every day. Soon, that perfection we crave will come.
