MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS

Let’s have a talk 013

Happy children’s day everyone!
I write this to all parents and parents-to-be. I am a teenager, I might be young but I know little about how the things are done.
Parents need to wake up from their sleep, most parents are sleeping. They have to know that the way to train a child now is different from the way their parents trained them. Some archaic methods cannot be applied when training a child now.
Many parents don’t sit to talk with their children. They are the “do as I say, don’t do as I do” type. We can’t open up to you about our experiences because we know you’re definitely gonna yell at us. We dare not tell you we have a crush on that guy, or that we’ve been abused in one way or the other. We know you’re definitely gonna flair up and overreact like you always do.

We need love, we need you to look into our eyes and tell us you love us, we have emotions, we have feelings, we are hurt sometimes and all we need isn’t scoldings, we need you to show us love.

A situation whereby a friend of mine was raped by her boyfriend, she’d dared not open up to her parents, tho’ she could tell me. It isn’t our fault that we’re secretive, we just don’t want to get your long hour sermons. We don’t want you to paint us as the black sheep of the family. We appreciate the fact that you provide for our basic needs but we want more emotionally. We especially as teenagers need pep talks from you.
Thank you to all the parents giving their all, please do more. God bless you
Happy children’s day. We love you.
